Drawing on our deep technical and regional expertise, Concordia AI engages with policymakers and institutions to advance evidence-based AI safety governance. We contribute to standards development, policy research, and international dialogue, helping to shape frameworks that promote safe AI development both in China and globally.
Standards Development in China
Concordia AI contributes to China’s AI safety standards through participating in national and industry technical committees. Concordia AI serves on the AI Subcommittee of the National Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC28/SC42), contributing to the “National Standard for AI – Risk management capability evaluation.” We also participate in the National Information Security Standardization Technical Committee’s (SAC/TC260) Special Working Group on Emerging Technology Safety, and provided feedback on TC260’s AI Safety and Governance Framework. In addition, we participate in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s AI Standardization Committee (MIIT/TC1), through the Working Group on AI Safety Governance. Finally, we are a member of the AI Safety Governance Committee at China’s AI Industry Alliance (AIIA), and work to promote frontier AI safety commitments and practices.
Policy Engagement in China
Concordia AI advises policymakers on AI safety by participating in policy committees and academic forums. Our team has produced original Chinese-language research on topics including open-source foundation model governance and AI–life sciences risks Some of these findings have been presented at the National Science and Technology Ethics Committee, CAICT seminars, and other policy consultations, directly informing China’s AI policies.
Global Policy Engagement
Leveraging our deep expertise in China’s AI safety and governance landscape, we’ve provided briefings to senior leadership at over a dozen global organizations, including major AI laboratories, policy think tanks, and diplomatic missions. Our engagement extends to high-level global platforms; we are one of the only civil society representatives from China in the Global AI Summit series (Bletchley, Seoul, and Paris) and in the United Nations High-Level AI Advisory Body’s ‘Consultative Network.’ Further cementing our global presence, our staff have signed The Manhattan Declaration on Inclusive International Scientific Understanding of AI at the UN Summit on the Future, and The Singapore Consensus on Global AI Safety Research Priorities. Our staff advise and participate in numerous Track 2 dialogues on AI safety, such as the Global AI-Bio Forum.
