World AI Conference 2024

We hosted the Frontier AI Safety and Governance Forum at the World AI Conference and High-level Conference on Global Governance of AI 2024 (WAIC 2024), China’s most influential AI conference. The Forum brought together 25 distinguished experts including former Baidu President ZHANG Ya-Qin, Turing Award Laureate Yoshua Bengio, Peng Cheng Lab Director GAO Wen, Shanghai AI Lab Director ZHOU Bowen, and UN High-Level Advisory Body members ZHANG Linghan, ZENG Yi, and Ruimin He. The event drew 300 in-person participants, over 1 million online viewers, and coverage from 20+ news outlets.

Beijing Academy of AI Conference 2025

We co-hosted the “AI Safety Forum” with the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (BAAI) at the 2025 Beijing Academy of AI Conference (BAAI 2025). The forum brought together leading scholars and technical experts from MIT, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Renmin University, the University of Toronto, Singapore Management University, and others. The event worked towards a scientific consensus on technical evaluations for AI “red lines.”

Beijing Academy of AI Conference 2023

We co-hosted and moderated a full-day forum on AI Safety and Alignment at BAAI 2023—the first AGI safety-focused forum at a major Chinese AI conference. The forum featured 14 leading voices in the field, including Geoffrey Hinton, Sam Altman, Stuart Russell, and Andrew Yao, alongside experts from Anthropic, DeepMind, Tsinghua University, the University of Cambridge, Peking University, and BAAI. The event attracted over 500 in-person participants.

International AI Cooperation and Governance Forum 2024

We co-hosted AI Safety sessions at the Forum with Singapore’s AI Verify Foundation. The AI Safety Plenum, chaired by Concordia AI, featured leading voices including LAM Kwok Yan, Co-Executive Director of the Singapore AI Safety Institute; Jade Leung, CTO of the UK AI Safety Institute; XUE Lan, Dean of the Tsinghua Institute for AI International Governance; TANG Jie, Chief Scientist of Zhipu AI; and Friederike Grosse-Holz, representative from the EU AI Office’s AI Safety Unit. Concordia AI and AI Verify Foundation also co-organized a closed-door workshop, convening 20+ international researchers to explore testing frameworks, risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and monitoring protocols.

International AI Cooperation and Governance Forum 2023

We co-hosted a half-day forum on Frontier AI Safety and Governance during the International AI Cooperation and Governance Forum co-organized by Tsinghua University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in December 2023. During the event, Concordia AI released a draft Chinese-language report for expert consultation titled Best Practices for Frontier AI Safety: Research and Development Practices and Policy Construction Guide for Chinese Institutions. The finalized 70+ page report, reflecting expert input from the forum, was published in January 2024.

Examining AI Safety as a Global Public Good

In February 2025, on the sidelines of the French AI Action Summit, Concordia AI co-hosted a workshop on “AI Safety as a Collective Challenge” in collaboration with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP), the Oxford Martin AI Governance Initiative (AIGI), the Tsinghua University Center for International Security and Strategy, and the Tsinghua Institute for AI International Governance (I-AIIG). During the seminar, Concordia AI, CEIP, and AIGI jointly released the report Examining AI Safety as a Global Public Good: Implications, Challenges, and Research Priorities
