Background
Singapore plays an important role in shaping regional and global approaches to AI governance. As part of Concordia AI’s mission to support international coordination on advanced AI, we are seeking an AI Governance Researcher/Research Manager to deepen our research on AI safety and governance in Singapore and the region, as well as support international convenings and policy engagement.
In this role, you will research and analyze developments in Singapore’s AI safety and governance ecosystem, contribute to original publications, and support engagement with policymakers, researchers, industry, and other stakeholders. The role offers an opportunity to build deep expertise in Singapore’s and Southeast Asia’s AI governance landscape, publish high-quality research, and contribute to policy discussions and international coordination on AI governance.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to and, depending on experience, lead original research and writing on Singapore’s AI safety and governance, including the publication of future State of AI Safety in Singapore reports.
- Develop policy analysis and recommendations on AI governance issues relevant to Singapore, Southeast Asia, and international policy developments.
- Support the planning and delivery of international convenings in Singapore, such as the International Scientific Exchange on AI Safety (ISE 2026), workshops and other engagements involving local and global stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as public policy, international relations, political science, AI/technology governance, or a related discipline.
- Strong research, analytical, and English-language writing skills, with experience producing high-quality research, policy analysis, or other written outputs; and/or
- Experience organizing international conferences, workshops, roundtables, or other policy convenings.
Preferred
- Previous research or professional experience relating to AI safety, governance, or technology policy.
- Familiarity with Singapore’s AI policy and governance landscape.
- Ability to build strong relationships with AI policy and governance communities in Singapore, across Southeast Asia, and internationally.
- Basic Mandarin reading and listening skills for internal team communication.
Location
You will be based in our Singapore office, with the option of spending up to 3 months a year working remotely. There will also be opportunities to co-work with colleagues in our Beijing office and to travel internationally for conferences, convenings, and other work-related engagements.
